L.T.L

L.T.L stands for less Than Truckload and normally refers to any shipment that does not utilize a full 48' or 53' trailer. This could mean from one box up to 10 plus pallets. Some L.T.L carriers utilize pups (Small Trailers that are commonly hauled in tandem) These carriers will only take up to an amount of freight that will fit into one pup.

L.T.L carriers use a hub and spoke system, where your freight is matched up with others peoples freight going to the same destination and may be off loaded from trailers and put on others numerous times.

Rates for L.T.L shipments are determined by Class. The National Motor Freight Classification of an item determines what rate is applied to your shipment. There are a number of factors that play into how an item is classified including density, value and how it is packaged.

Find out your Class Now. Email our L.T.L specialists with Description, Weight and Size (LXWXH)

L.T.L moves also have service options which can affect your freight rate. Shipping to a residential address will cost you more than shipping to a commercial address and independent of where your shipment is going if it needs a lift gate service it generally costs more due to the limited availability of that equipment in some area.
